Promoting the building surveying profession

In May, executive members Darryl August and Rory Crosbie headed over to The University of Auckland, Business School, to catch up with Chartered and Registered Building Surveyor, David Clifton, to discuss the Property 370, Building Surveying course of the undergraduate course in Property.

David explained that the goal of the course was to introduce building surveying to his students, explain the diverse role building surveyors play throughout their careers and to outline the concepts of building surveying including appraisal, strategic thinking and the need for technical expertise.

At the end of the course, David explained that his students would have knowledge of building compliance, building assessment, lease liability, sustainability, professional practice and construction contracts.

During his introduction, David presents a number of slides to his students on the New Zealand Institute of Building Surveyors and the role the Institute currently plays throughout the country.
